Review: LL Cool J's Platinum Workout (by LL Cool J)

Yeas: Good pictures of workouts. Some really good recipes. LL Cool J is enthusiastic.
Nays: Could have structured the whole workout plan better.
I first heard about this book watching Dave Lettermen a few years ago. LL Cool J was promoting this book and I saw that he was pretty cut and fit. But I didn't actually get this book until a few months ago. The book is very big and hard covered.

Some things I liked about the book are that there are plenty of pictures describing workouts and showing how fit LL Cool J is. There is no denying that this guy practices what he preaches. He also has a good sense of humor as he goes through the book, especially at the beginning when he does his initial 'what kind of food do you have right now?' investigation. There are some really good food recipes in here that are healthy and taste good. My favorite is the platinum shake - a very healthy, tasty shake.

There are a few things that could have been done better in the book. One is the description of the exercises. Though there are pictures, for a beginner, there could have been some further explanation of the exercises. Also, the organization of the 'schedule' to follow for achieving the platinum workout was a little tough to follow. You had to skip several pages to find the next weeks workout. It would have been nice if the workout was neatly outlined from page to page so it could all be seen at once. Still, it's not too hard to find once you've been through the whole book.

All in all, this guy knows what he's talking about and does a good job of adding in hype and excitement to what he talks about. I recommend this book for those of you who are interested in getting fit and cut and also wanting to learn a little bit about some foods that are healthy and taste good.
